Oregon Wins
Another
Congressional Seat!

Every 10 years, after the collection of the decennial census data, states redraw state and congressional district lines. These districts determine how communities are represented at the local, state, and federal levels. The redistricting process is fundamental in influencing how our government works. Given the population growth in Oregon we have won a sixth Congressional district. We need to ensure that the new district and representative advocates for our critical communities and champions our needs.

COMMUNITIES ARE SAYING

"Mi comunidad necesita buena representación, ojo con la redistribución de distritos"
- Ana Muñoz, Latino Network
"Showing up, speaking out, and providing insight into how the districts should be drawn is an act of decolonization."
- William Miller, NAYA
"Communities most impacted by these structural/systemic decisions are often left out of the decision making process, and it’s our duty to ensure that does not happen now."
Merrill Liddicoat, Rosewood Initiative
"East Multnomah County has grown to be one of the most diverse areas in Oregon-- (and) far too often our communities are not included in the decisions that affect them, and as a result are deprived of the resources they need-- we have the opportunity to change this."
- Blanca Gaytan-Farfan, East County Rising Community Projects
"Redistricting offers the key chance to see how the past decade of API population growth should translate into greater representation in Salem. "
Marchel Hirschfield, APANO
